The necessary evil 👹

Well, I guess the heading could relate to so many things, but in the case of this blog, I'm talking about fitness! Healthy eating, exercise and looking after yourself. 

 

I don't like it! In fact, I quite possibly despise the gym, I'm certainly the only one there with the face that says "mess with me and I may kill you" I look around and everyone else is having a blast! I don't really get it 🤔 but what I do get is that health and fitness is a necessity and it has astonishing side effects such as increased energy, which is the main reason I do it.

 

 

I recently spent 3 weeks in America and the above pictures pretty much sums up my eating, but I don't even think this was the killer, nope, it was the endless free refills of soft drink, I would no sooner finish my coke and it was replaced with another. I am not joking when I say this, but I literally undid about 8 months work at the gym in just 3 weeks! I'm so squishy around the edges, which is ok by me but it's the feeling of sluggishness, being tired, mentally and physically exhausted, I will pay any price to avoid that. 

 

 

So I started back today at my local gym, just a half hour on the bike, but I get so bored, I think of all of the things I could be doing, but instead I'm pedalling away and going nowhere! But already I feel better, changed my diet today too, cut out all soft drinks, cut out 99% of the junk food but I'm not going cold turkey, I will reward myself as I continue the journey. I find actual weight loss to be a challenge, I know I'm not large, but that's what makes it harder, I don't have much to lose, but I really have to work hard to lose any amount of weight and believe it or not I'm actually on the verge of being too heavy for my frame, I know! I couldn't believe it either. I love to eat though, that's my problem, I love food! I don't drink, don't smoke, don't gamble, barely go out ... but I really freakin love my food! So yes.. if I wanna eat the way I do then I have to exercise to stay fit physically and mentally, so no matter what weight you are, it's your choice when, if and how much you work out! But I will promise you one thing, if you do it, the benefits are certainly worth it!
